they grumbled a little about having to wait.

shes done quite a bit of work this past year.
a https:/// bit修飾形容詞、動(dòng)詞、副詞,后接形容詞,表示“有點(diǎn)”a little bit = a bit,只不過(guò)a little bit比a bit的還少一點(diǎn)。
youve been a bit soft with him.
hes half asleep and a bit boozed.
a bit和a little在肯定句中修飾動(dòng)詞、形容詞、副詞和比較級(jí)時(shí)可以互換,表示"一點(diǎn)兒"的意思。
the speaker spoke up a bit/a little so as to make himself heard more clearly.

a bit和a little在否定句中的意思恰恰相反, not a bit相當(dāng)于"not at all"(一點(diǎn)兒都不);not a little相當(dāng)于"very(much)"或"extremely"(很、非常)。
she is not a bit tired. = she is not tired at all.

三、a litile,a few(形容詞和代詞)用法
a little指少量或者說(shuō)話人認(rèn)為少的量;a few指小數(shù)目或者說(shuō)話人認(rèn)為小的數(shù)目。
1、 把only放在a little/a few之前,是為了強(qiáng)調(diào)說(shuō)話人認(rèn)為該數(shù)量的確很小。
only a few of our customers have accounts.

there was little time for consultation.
few towns have such splendid trees.
2、 little和few的這種用法主要限于書(shū)面英語(yǔ)(可能由于在日常會(huì)話中l(wèi)ittle和few容易被誤認(rèn)為是 a little/a few)。因此,在日常會(huì)話中l(wèi)ittle和few通常由hardly any(幾乎沒(méi)有)替代,也可以由動(dòng)詞否定式+much/many替代:
we saw little.
we saw hardly anything./we didn’t see much.

3、 但如果little和few由so,very,too,extremely (adv.
fewer?較少的

the speaker spoke up a bit/a little so as to make himself heard more clearly.
a bit和a little在否定句中的意思恰恰相反, not a bit相當(dāng)于"not at all"(一點(diǎn)兒都不);not a little相當(dāng)于"very(much)"或"extremely"(很、非常)。
she is not a bit tired. = she is not tired at all.
she is not a little tired. = she is very tired.
a little可以直接作定語(yǔ)修飾名詞,而a bit則要在后面加of構(gòu)成短語(yǔ)才能作定語(yǔ),兩者都只能修飾不可數(shù)名詞。
there is a little/a bit of? food left for lunch.
a nice bit of相當(dāng)多的
he has got a nice bit of money for his book.
his second suggestion was little ( = not much) better than his first.
5、 在正式的英語(yǔ)中,little可用在某些動(dòng)詞如 expect,know,suspect,think等之前:
he little expected to find himself in prison.
he little thought that one day…
三、a litile,a few(形容詞和代詞)用法
a little指少量或者說(shuō)話人認(rèn)為少的量;a few指小數(shù)目或者說(shuō)話人認(rèn)為小的數(shù)目。
1、 把only放在a little/a few之前,是為了強(qiáng)調(diào)說(shuō)話人認(rèn)為該數(shù)量的確很小。
only a few of our customers have accounts.
很;相當(dāng);完全)放在a few之前就大大增大了這個(gè)數(shù)量:quite a few?不少。
i have quite a few books on art.
四、little和few(形容詞和代詞)用法:
there was little time for consultation.
few towns have such splendid trees.
2、 little和few的這種用法主要限于書(shū)面英語(yǔ)(可能由于在日常會(huì)話中l(wèi)ittle和few容易被誤認(rèn)為是 a little/a few)。因此,在日常會(huì)話中l(wèi)ittle和few通常由hardly any(幾乎沒(méi)有)替代,也可以由動(dòng)詞否定式+much/many替代:
we saw little.
we saw hardly anything./we didn’t see much.
tourists come here but few stay overnight.
tourists come here but hardly any stay overnight.
3、 但如果little和few由so,very,too,extremely (adv.
fewer?較少的
i’m unwilling to try a drug i know so little about.
they have too many technicians, we have too few.
